10th Annual Stevie Ray Vaughan Ride and
Concert, a Real Pride and Joy
by Tracie Carlson
Sunday October 3rd, 2004 proved to be everything we had hoped for and more.
It was a day to honor Stevie’s 50th Birthday and to celebrate the 10th
Anniversary of the Stevie Ray Vaughan Remembrance Ride and Concert. Proceeds
from the event benefit the Stevie Ray Vaughan Memorial Scholarship Fund. The
Scholarships are awarded to aspiring music students
at Greiner Middle School in the heart of Oak Cliff, where Stevie himself spent
his childhood. )(There's a special note of thanks from Stevie Ray Vaughan's
personal road manager, Cutter Brandenburg aka Mr. Cee below).
Not only did the sun shine this year (for the most part), but also an
overwhelming amount of support came from each and every direction. We would
especially like to thank everyone who shared their time and energy; the Cowboy’s
Staff, The Iron Pigs, the vendors, musicians and stage crews, all the sponsors;
Dallas County Choppers, Deep Ellum Blues, Guitar
Legends Magazine, Deja Blues TV, Stryker Production, Sturgis Pay Per View, McCoy
& Associates, 104.3 The Coyote, 93.3.FM The Bone. Thanks also to Qwik Sign in
Colleyville Texas for giving us a hand with the large SRV Banner. Muchas gracias
goes to John Mayer for his generous support, the Doobie Brothers for the
autographed drum head and band photos donated for the raffle, Texas Hatters for
the SRV replica hat, Southwest Airlines for the two round trip tickets, Swank
Guitar Shop for the guitar and Lori Ann Fitzgerald for airbrushing it, The Blue
Mesa Grill for a gift certificate for two, and to WA. Williams (www.wawilliams.com)
for the signed and framed museum quality photograph “Last Call”.
Special thanks to Guitar Legends
Magazine for their support in advertising our event within the covers of the
special “Stevie Ray Vaughan” issue. Multi-talented Guitar World Senior Editor
Andy Aledort also took the stage to join Alan Haynes, Denny Freeman, Mike
Kindred and Jim Suhler with Double Trouble as the headline band for this year’s
concert. An impressive line-up including Krackerjack, Grady, Joe Bonamassa, Wes
Jeans, Beth Garner and Soulville all helped to make this year our best ever.
You may have already seen the Speed Channel’s “2 Wheel Tuesday” program which
featured the SRV Parade, it was scheduled to air during the latter half of
November, if not, well there’s always re-runs! For more information and to order
merchandise be sure to access the official website at

A Special Thanks from Cutter Brandenburg
I personally want to thank all those who helped make the 10th Annual SRV
Remembrance Ride and Concert the best ever. Most of all, I’d like to send a
special thanks to the fans who attended, who I consider family. What better day
to celebrate Stevie’s life then on his 50th Birthday. And a wonderful time it
was to come together in Stevie’s name for such a great cause. The love shown
that day equaled the love Stevie had for us all. We were all humbled by the
experience.
Each year the event gets better and better, but this year surpassed all of my
hopes and dreams because I found the guy who introduced me to Stevie over 35
years ago. I was so blessed to meet Stevie. Knowing him changed my entire life
and still to this day I reap the benefits.
Through the years, many have asked for my email address because they want to
talk about Stevie. Ya know, he always referred to his fans as “the family”. He
would say “Cee, our family is growing all the time”. He would want all of us who
knew and loved him to take the time to talk to our other family members. My
greatest joy is in sharing stories about Stevie and all my friends over all the
years. So please feel free to contact me anytime. It is very important to me to
be able to do this One last note; I’ve decided to write a book about my
adventures on the road and probably 75% will be about Stevie. I remember so well
how he just wanted to play and all who heard him could feel the love in his
music. Stevie Ray Vaughan was the real deal and he still lives in the hearts of
his friends and family all over the world.
Love to all,
Cutter / Mr. Cee
