THE SHOW
MUST GO ON!
| In spite of
near torrential rain, remnants of hurricane Katrina, Andy Aledort and the Groove
Kings went on stage and delivered an astounding array of songs from their
new CD, as well as amazing renditions of Jimi Hendrix and Allman Brothers
songs. Atmospherically, the Stamperstock '05 theme combined with the rain
and Andy's rendition of the Star Spangled banner felt like a reverberation
of Woodstock '69, or maybe an aftershock.
Unfortunately, with the pouring down rain
and an antiquated digital camera only capable of filming up to 60 seconds on
a floppy disk, we were only able to capture these few low quality video
clips below. At times, the rain was so heavy that the sounds and video is
more distorted. However, if you listen and watch closely, you'll get an idea
of how powerful an event this must have been to keep the crowd watching,
groovin' and transcending the elements of rain and electricity! Thank God,
Andy and the guys didn't get electrocuted because the only semi-tarp-covered
stage left exposed wires laying around everywhere covered in water. Even so,
the show went on and did not disappoint!
Note: Check out on Clip #2 "Red House".
Andy is playing a solo so fast that the video couldn't pick up how fast his
picking hand is moving! In fact, it looks like it's moving in slow motion as
you hear a barrage of notes being played. |

Here are some pics from Stamperstock 2005, a music festival
in Carlisle, PA. Special thanks to Dave Kann and Dean Dusinberre who hosted
the event. and opened the show with their band
Stamper
Lumber. Interestingly, the name
Stamperstock is a play on Woodstock and the name of Dave's and Dean's band,
Stamper Lumber, which they derived from the hero's name (Stamper) in the
novel "Sometimes a Great Notion" by Ken Kesey (of One flew over the Cuckoos
Nest fame), written around the time Jimi was getting started." In the
picture of me standing with Andy (third row down on left), I did not pee my
pants as a result of meeting Andy in person for the second time since
Stamperstock 2004. That's from the rain! ~Webmaster :-) |
